A Tree Cut Down In Vain by Jessica Ni Leacai

How demanding you are
How your silence harms
my soul, my heart
Of these broken branches

No seedlings sprout forth
from this hollowed trunk
What hazard am I?
Too harsh for refinement?

Why must I stammer
each rivet cut from me?
Your hammered holes defecting
for deforestation to ensue.
