A Week, A Day

It was Tuesday, you promised,

we would courtingly couple, I know,

I noted it, scribbingly, instinctly, in

my mind, excited in waiting hours

Tuesday went, as did Wednesday, lights

flashed on and lights flashed off, but

your form gained no entry, only strangers

came and passed, as reminants of denied days

Did you forget, was I to be a forgetful placard,

placed, buried in the back of your mind,

plans made in thoughtless hours, merely molesting

this feeble, frailed flower, nonetheless yourself eased, satisfying solitude

Now Thursday upon us, so you rewound the tape,

apologetic, as you would, transcribed it so, but my mind

succumbs images of decepted pre-empts, feasible chances,

of me left lingering, lonely on Holywood shores
